A Half-Day Visit to Half-Open Universal Studios Singapore

Asia, Singapore

When traveling to other countries, I actually prefer going to some places which have deep cultural value. But sometimes I also enjoy a lot going to fun places where most other fun-seeking tourists go. In this post you can find a little story about my trip to Universal Studios Singapore (USS), one of the latest additions to Singapore’s new face as a fun and hip place. This post tells you more about it than what I have told you much earlier in my post about Singapore.

Universal Studios’ Globe

USS consists of several different-themed zones, all named after Universal Studios’ well-known movies, such as Madagascar, Shrek, The Lost World, The Mummy, etc.. Below are some of worth-visiting attractions in USS based on my experience.

1.The Mummy Returns indoor roller-coaster

Ancient Egypt Zone in Universal Studios Singapore

Indoor roller coaster where you can experience riding a roller coaster which occasionally goes backward in high speed inside a dark tunnel (you will find flame blazing above you, don’t worry, it’s just the special effect). This ride is definitely not meant for the faint-hearted.

2.Waterworld stuntmen show

Stuntmen (and woman) in Action

Witness some remarkable stunt actions from mostly Australian stuntmen and one stuntwoman bringing the movie Waterworld to life. If you don’t want to get wet, don’t sit on the splash zone, this is no joke, they will really splash and squirt some water upon you (and sometimes pour a whole bucket of water).

Get Ready to Get Wet

3.Steven Spielberg’s movie studio replica

Seeing is believing. This phrase aptly describes what kind of experience you will get after going to this particular attraction. You can watch how some of those special effects we see in the movies were actually made and orchestrated, hence we learn that most dramatic scenes and backdrops in the movie are not real. This attraction is definitely a must-visit for all movie fans.

4.Shrek 4D cinema

Far Far Away Kingdom

Embark on a journey with Shrek! This 4D cinema is better than what I experienced in Jakarta in terms of special effect. I will not tell the difference though, leaving the fun to be discovered by yourselves.

Actually I really want to get on Battlestar Galactica inverted roller-coaster, but unfortunately it was still closed when I went there (God knows when it will be available for public to enjoy).

So, that’s a little share from me about Universal Studios Singapore. If you happen to visit USS and find that Battlestar Galactica has been made available, please share the information (I think the ride is going to be more than awesome!).

Bye for now.

Hello Bama, Battlestar Galactica has been available since I visited USS in Nov 2012! Not just that but the latest attraction which is Transformers : The Ride was available that time as well 🙂

    • Hi Norah. Yes, I’ve heard about the Transformers as well and some people really loved it. Maybe the next time I visit I’ll try it. 🙂

    • Hi Leny. Actually at that time I went with some of my coworkers, and we asked a travel agent to buy the ticket on our behalf. I’m not sure how they did it though, maybe through the internet. What I heard is that buying on the spot is possible but it can cost you even more. I never checked about this.
